Our Class Blog:
December 2025
We have continued to enjoy our learning about the Victorians this term, diving deeper into history through real census entries, exploring what school life was like, and immersing ourselves in the gripping story of Street Child. Our Victorian Day was a truly successful highlight, giving everyone an opportunity to step back into the past. Following Victorian rules, learning Latin phrases, playing traditional games, and taking part in a range of hands-on activities has given us memorable experiences of what life might have been like. It was fantastic to see the incredible creativity that went into the children’s outfits and the imaginative Victorian names we chose—the attention to detail was impressive! In Science, we have been investigating light, exploring how it travels and how we use it in our daily lives. Meanwhile, in PSHE, we have been learning all about money—how to keep a budget tracker and learning why saving is important for the future. Our sewing project has also been an exciting challenge that has required real perseverance. We have shown great determination as our skills have grown. We are especially grateful to all the adults who came in to support us on Wednesday—thanks to their help, our final Christmas decorations are now nearly complete and looking fantastic!

November 2025
We have made a fantastic start to our learning this half term. In English, we are developing our own imaginative ‘mechanimal’ to feature in an information double-page spread, ensuring our creature has an exciting design inspired by Victorian mechanisms. This is giving us a valuable opportunity to be independent learners, as we are making creative decisions about both the design and the information that we will include. In DT, we have begun our sewing project; after researching a range of decorative ideas, we have carefully generated our final design and showed great perseverance as we began learning new sewing skills. We also launched our new History topic on the Victorians. We were fascinated by a collection of Victorian photographs and enjoyed analysing them to discover what we can learn about Victorian life from visual evidence alone.

October 2025
We have been very busy in Diamond Class! We have been reflecting on our successful residential trip and completing some thoughtful follow-up work. We have written — and are now designing — our own persuasive leaflets to advertise Thorpe Woodlands. Using our creative computing skills, we will bring our designs to life using the Comic Life app. In Geography, our topic Marvellous Maps has inspired us to create our own maps using four-figure grid references, even writing questions for others to solve. We have also been persevering with our French speaking skills, practising counting and learning how to ask and answer questions about places we like to go. Génial!

September 2025
We have already shown such maturity, responsibility and independence towards our learning and our role as the oldest children in the school. We have wowed everybody during our successful time away this week at Thorpe Woodlands, making the most of the opportunity and showing great perseverance, resilience and unity. What superstars!
