World Book Day

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day together as a school community. The children arrived dressed as a wonderful range of book characters and enjoyed sharing their favourite stories with one another throughout the day. It was lovely to see so much enthusiasm for reading and to hear children talking passionately about the books they love. It was particularly lovely that it was such a warm spring day as we were able to take our buddy reading outside and share our books together in the sunshine whilst enjoying a hot chocolate. Our Story in a Jar competition was a huge success, with children producing some incredibly creative and imaginative de signs inspired by their favourite stories. Thank you to all the families who came along after school to view the gallery of entries. Choosing winners from each class was no easy task, and the winning jars will be proudly displayed in our new li brary. Well done to our four winners: Sidney, Teddy, Aled and Fearne who each received a new book to read. All children who entered were given a small prize and a round-of-applause in assembly too. We were also delighted to welcome several ‘Mystery Guest Readers’, who surprised the children with special story times at the end of the day. The excitement and curiosity about who might appear behind each book made these moments particu larly memorable! Thank you as well to everyone who supported our pre-loved book sale. Your generosity helped raise fur ther funds to purchase new books for our refreshed library collection. It was a wonderful day celebrating reading, creativi ty and imagination together. You can see lots of photos from the day on the photo gallery pages.
