Attendance

Our School day begins at 8.50am and finishes at 3.20pm. School gates open for children to proceed straight to classrooms from 8.40am. Our school week is 32.5 hours.

We work in partnership with parents and carers, to promote good attendance and punctuality.

Regular school attendance is an essential part of giving children the best possible start in life. The aim should be to attend school 100% of the time.

 Excellent attendance and punctuality at school is vital for:

  • a child's ability to learn and achieve;
  • the social skills they learn interacting with their peers and adults;
  • for learning habits that will last into later life;
  • for equipping them to compete in employment and the working world;
  • safeguarding children from harm.

Why is punctuality also important?

It is also important to arrive at school on time. If a child arrives late to school every day, their learning begins to suffer. Below is a graph showing how being late to school every day over a school year adds up to lost learning time over one academic year.
