Pupil Leadership

We  believe in creating opportunities for pupil leadership where children take on key leadership roles. We want our children to be actively involved in school improvement and to breathe life, relevance, purpose and meaning in all that happens at our school. Pupil Leaders embody our PRECIOUS values and act as role models for others. They help our school and community to understand the importance of our values and how they can help us.

Play leaders have an important role in our school. Children who become play leaders must complete their play leader training and show commitment to their role.

Play Leader Training 2025 with Mr Massey

As play leaders, they make sure that everyone has someone to play with at break and lunch, as well as coming up with ideas for games children could play and helping to initiate these.

They also take care of our playground equipment by checking everyone is using it correctly and safely.

Children can chat to a play leader if they feel lonely or upset at breaktimes – they are more than happy to help! They can be easily spotted as they wear their purple play leader t-shirts.

School Council

Our School Council is a group of children, two from each year group, who represent the views of all our pupils. School Council members are elected each year.

Our School Council provides our children the opportunity to have their voices heard and be part of the whole school community. They help to makes decisions about school life and organise projects that support learning and development, such as organising charity events, theme days or representing the school at outside events.

We value the opinions of our pupils and our school council gives pupils a forum to share these opinions with our school council teacher representative, Mrs Greenwood, our Headteacher and other members of staff.

Worship Council

As a Church of England Primary School and part of the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Multi Academy Trust, our Christian vision and values, ethos and collective worship are central to our school. Our worship council is a group of children, from each year group, lead on the importance of our Christian ethos within our school community.

Our worship council work withh their teacher representative, Mrs Death. They have written our unique school prayer. They plan and lead our class collective worship every week.

Buddies

All children in our school are paired with a younger pupil as their buddy. For example, our oldest children in Diamond Class are paired with our youngest children in Ruby Class and help and support them when they begin school for the first time! Opportunities to work with buddies are provided throughout the school year such as during enrichment afternoons, visits and visitors and walking to and from the church.  Being a buddy helps our pupils to further develop their understanding of our PRECIOUS values and being responsible role models for others.
