Science
Our goal for our science education is for children to become scientifically literate citizens who are able to understand and be curious about the world around them through our gems (big ideas) of:
Curiosity - foster an enquiring mind and sense of enjoyment in science and STEM topics in all pupils and develop an understanding of the world around them.
Working Scientifically - Pupils will develop the use of scientific enquiry skills to solve problems and learn how to carry out practical experiments safely and carefully.
Investigation - Pupils will relate science to everyday life by using everyday materials and situations and create a bank of knowledge by investigating, revisiting and extending topics.

British Science Week 2025
We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Science Week 2025. This year’s theme was ‘Change and Adapt.’ Each class completed two science activities during the week with each lesson teaching us about a science concept related to the theme e.g. a caterpillar turning into a butterfly; how worms turn dead leaves and waste materials into soil; how animals are adapted to their environment; and even which products are the best to flush away to keep our drain systems working well! The children really enjoyed conducting scientific experiments and creating their own animals and models to help them to learn and explore this year’s topic. Our learning culminated in a special assembly where each class shared their learning from the week with the rest of the school.
